Anger is an emotion that can take us by surprise – it appears suddenly and takes control of us. Even when we try to live peacefully and consciously, it can crash in and turn our inner state upside down.

In this article, I will tell you how to look at anger differently – with tenderness and mindfulness. And I will share a simple, powerful affirmation for releasing anger — one that helps dissolve tension and restore inner peace. Read to the end and see how effective it is.

 

Anger. Well, who doesn’t know it? I think each of us has had such a moment when we felt like we were boiling inside. And it doesn’t have to be just when someone has truly annoyed us – sometimes it’s the little things. A traffic jam. A spoon placed incorrectly. Someone’s words that somehow particularly “got on our nerves.” But don’t worry – we don’t judge here.

Because anger is simply an emotion. A mental program. One that can be noticed, felt… and doesn’t necessarily require us to deal with it.

It is interesting to note that anger often comes up even in people who have been working on their spiritual development for a long time. It’s just that it can be more camouflaged then. Trampled. Pushed into a corner somewhere. But… it’s there. Inside you. And sometimes all it takes is a spark for everything in you to stir. And then you think: “But I was supposed to not react, to not choose this any more… and here I am, getting angry again.”

And here comes the moment. The moment to pause. Inhale. Exhale. And look at anger from a different perspective. So gently. Even with a smile. “Oh, I feel anger? Alright. But I’m not going to entertain you. Goodbye.” You can even blow it out of you, like a dandelion in the wind. Give it lightness. And believe me, your body will love that. Because the body doesn’t like tension. And anger is tension in its purest form.

So, since anger is such stiffness, such an internal squeeze… then what will be its opposite? Calmness. A soft, velvety calmness. A calmness that does not mean that everything in your life suits you, but that you choose differently. You choose to react differently. To create a new version of yourself.

 

Affirmation To Control Anger: Choosing Peace From Within

That’s why today I’m sharing with you a simple, active affirmation for when you are angry. It really works, but only if you feel it, not just say it. It goes like this:

“I choose to relax. I choose to feel calmness. And I am all velvety.”

Say it to yourself, preferably with your eyes closed. Slowly. Give yourself a moment. No pressure. Let your body feel that velvet. That choice. This is very important – because you need to cooperate with your body. You must accustom it to feeling calmness.

 

Practicing The Affirmation When Feeling Angry

And now – the next time you feel anger, tension, irritation, frustration – you don’t have to suppress it. Just notice it. And remind yourself: “Ohhh. And I choose to relax. I choose to feel calmness. And I am all velvety.” And let this disposition – yes, disposition – spread over your body. Like a warm blanket. Or like a gentle wave.

Because it’s you who chooses. You decide. You create. At any moment you can say: “I choose to transform myself. I make myself light, because that’s what I choose.”

And feel that lightness. Feel how calmness spreads inside you and all over your body. How you are aware of what is happening within you, but you no longer have to choose it. You no longer have to identify with it. You are free. You are calmness.

And even if anger still shows up – see how beautiful it is that you feel it. Because it means you are in touch with yourself. No denial. No: “I shouldn’t.” Just awareness. Just choice. And that is what works.

So, anger doesn’t have to control your world. You can notice it, smile at it, and choose differently. Calm is within reach, and the affirmation can be the first step towards the lightness that you will feel with your whole being.
