Would you like to stop being embarrassed?
Imagine that… you are feeling embarrassed. Seriously, try to feel it for a moment. “What?! I can go out… and speak in public… just like that?!” – says the voice in your head, and your cheeks turn as red as beets.
Or, “Oh dear, I really felt embarrassed!” – and you immediately want to hide under the blanket, preferably for a week.
Feelings of embarrassment are one of those experiences that appear suddenly, out of nowhere, like an uninvited guest. And while it can range from mild embarrassment to a paralyzing feeling that we want to disappear, we all know this state all too well.
But… maybe we don’t have to fight this feeling? Maybe instead we can understand it, accept it, and even tame it?
Today, we will take a close look at this emotion. And I will also give you a positive affirmation to stop being embarrassed — one that helps soothe and dissolve this feeling, like morning mist in the sunshine.
What does embarrassment do to the body?
Let’s contemplate for a while – what exactly does embarrassment do to our body? Feel it for a moment. Because this feeling doesn’t just sit in our head – it has very physical effects.
Embarrassment shuts us down. Literally. As if someone pressed the “curl up instantly!” button. Our lungs seem to have less space, our breath becomes shallow, our shoulders raise of their own accord, as if we want to hide… even from ourselves. The whole body shrinks, like a flower that suddenly curled its petals when the sun disappeared behind the clouds.
Embarrassment can block our natural flow – energy, freedom, voice, breath. It keeps us stuck in one place and makes us think: “Keep your head down. Don’t show yourself. Don’t let yourself be noticed.”
But hey – is that really the only option? Fortunately, it’s not. And we’ll get to that in a moment.
A gentle affirmation for when you’re feeling embarrassed
So now… feel it. Close your eyes for a minute, and recall in your mind that moment when embarrassment overwhelmed you. Recall the voice in your head, the tension in your body, the desire when you want to disappear.
And now – take a deeper breath. And say to yourself slowly, with tenderness:
“I am the light that experiences happiness and freedom.”
Say it once again. Even more slowly. Feel every word.
This is your active affirmation for when you feel embarrassed – a quiet, healing reminder of your inner truth.
Because that’s what you are – light. A pure presence that can experience everything: joy, emotion, love… but also moments of embarrassment. And that’s okay.
And now imagine that where there was once embarrassment, something new appears… Pride appears.
Pride in who you are. Pride in being yourself – real, having feelings, beautiful in your humanity.
Feel how your body opens up. How with each breath, there is more space, more light within your body. You no longer have to shrink – you can shine.
This is the magic of an affirmation for embarrassment. It doesn’t deny your feelings. It transforms them.
Because everything in you is beautiful. It really is. So feel the pride.
Ultimately, it’s about freedom, not perfection
I think that while reading this short post, a lot of things came together in you. Perhaps even more than you expected. Because after all, embarrassment is not just an emotion. It is also a piece of a larger puzzle that relates to your inner freedom.
The more you are free from what defines you, what holds you back, what says “you must be like this or like that…” – the easier it will be to breathe. And the more beautiful life will become.
Because life is not about being perfect. Life is about being yourself. It’s about feeling. About experiencing. About discovering what it means to be human – with all the vulnerability, light, imperfection, and wonder that you carry within you.
So, go with freedom. And with that beautiful pride that does not shout, but calmly says: “I am. And that is enough.”
