Do you know that feeling when you think, “I have to prove something, I have to show off so that others notice me”?
It’s a very common mental program that runs in the background of your life. It seems trivial, yet it can strongly influence us. We buy things, boast about our achievements, try to “look better,” all to feel more valuable for a moment.
This mechanism has one source — the feeling that we are not enough as we are. Then the thought arises: “When I have something, then I am someone.” And although it does give us relief for a short time, there is still emptiness inside, because no amount of “showing off” will fill that void.
Fortunately, it is possible to work with this program. The best tool here is affirmation — a simple but very effective practice for changing energy.
Today, I will share with you an affirmation that works specifically on the “I want to show off” program. I will also show you an exercise that will allow you to immediately feel the difference in your body and energy.
Where Does The Desire To Show Off Come From?
When we talk about the “I want to show off” program, we are essentially talking about a feeling of inadequacy. Inside, there is a belief that “the way I am is not enough.” And that’s when the desire arises to add something, to prove something, to show something to others.
Most often it looks like this: I buy something new → I immediately feel better. Or: I boast about a success → I receive temporary recognition and feel that I am finally “in my place.” But this is just a temporary effect. Moments later, another urge comes — to have even more, to be even better.
It’s a bit like an empty container into which we keep pouring water, but the bottom has a hole in it. We can pour and pour, and it will never fill up. This is how the energy of “I want to show off” works — the more we try to prove our worth through external things, the more we feel a lack inside.
And here’s an important observation: the body itself shows us that something is wrong. When we act from the “I want to show off” program, tension arises — a tight throat, squinting eyes, difficulty breathing. This is not the energy of joy, but of pressure.
Fortunately, this mechanism can be reprogrammed. And this is exactly what affirmation is for — not a logical statement that we will repeat to ourselves, but the energy that we begin to feel within ourselves.
Affirmation Against The Desire To Show Off
The proper, active affirmation for the program “I want to show off” is:
“I am a miracle that is golden in color”
At first glance, this may sound strange, illogical, or even a bit fairy-tale-like. But that’s where all the power lies. Affirmations are not meant to be logical — because logic works on the mind, and it is not the mind that creates reality. Reality is shaped by energy, and energy follows what you feel.
That’s why, the most important thing is to feel this affirmation. Not just to repeat the words in your mind, but to allow them to spread thoughout your body. For more explanation, please see my article on active affirmations.
So now, take a moment, close your eyes, and say to yourself: “I am a miracle that is golden in color.”
Try to feel how it sounds in your heart, in your stomach, in your eyes. The golden color carries light, joy, and warmth. And the word “miracle” reminds you that your worth does not depend on how much you have or what you show to others — you are unique, simply because you exist.
So instead of the energy of pressure: “I must show off,” you’ll choose the energy of delight in yourself: “I am a miracle.” It seems simple, but this simplicity opens the doors to true transformation.
Choosing A New Quality Of Life
When you let go of the old program of “I need to show off,” suddenly there is space for something completely different. Because the truth is that you choose how you want to feel and from what energy you want to act.
You can choose:
— to feel great about yourself – without any extras or proving anything
— to delight in life – even the little things that happen around you
— to dream and fulfill yourself – because dreams open doors, and the world will organize everything in its own way anyway
— to vibrate with joy – because joy is your natural state
And here’s an important point: it’s not about “more.” The “I want to show off” program always pushes towards “more — harder — further.” The real change is that you start choosing only what really makes you happy.
It’s a bit like your wardrobe — instead of stuffing your closet with more and more things, you choose a few favorites that make you feel great right away. It works exactly the same way in life. Not more, just right. Not for others, but for yourself.
When you start choosing this way, your everyday life becomes lighter. You no longer chase acceptance because you know you are a miracle. Instead of pressure, there is gratitude and joy.
Exercise With Energy
Let’s try a simple practice now that will allow you to truly feel the difference between the energy of “I want to show off” and the energy of joy and love.
Sit comfortably. Focus on your eyes. Notice what happens inside when the thought arises: “I want to show off. I want others to see what I have, what I’ve accomplished.”
Do you feel how your eyes slightly squint? Do you feel tension, tightness — not only in your eyes, but also throughout your body? This is a natural reaction — your body is showing you that this energy does not give it freedom. It’s more of an effort than joy.
Now let’s do something different. Feel joy in your eyes. Imagine you are looking at the world the way a child enjoys their treasures: “Look how happy I am!” — without the need to prove anything. Notice how your gaze changes. Your eyes become brighter, more open, lighter.
Do you feel the difference? As if the world has suddenly become more beautiful, right?
That’s what it’s all about — looking through joy, not through the desire to show off. Not more, not harder, not “I have to” — just what truly delights me and makes me happy. The rest is an unnecessary burden that can simply be put aside.
You may repeat this exercise whenever you feel the pressure to show off returning. Your eyes will quickly remind you how differently the world looks when you see it with the energy of delight and gratitude.
Counterweight To The Program “I Want to Show Off”
Every program has its counterweight — something that automatically changes its energy. In the case of “I want to show off,” that counterweight is one simple word: “Love.”
Think about it — when you act from a place of “I must show off,” your attention is focused on others. It’s an internal dialogue: “Will they notice me? Will they appreciate me? Am I enough?” There is tension, expectation, and a constant sense of lack.
Now, reverse that perspective. Instead of asking, “What do I have to show you?” — say, “I love you.” This simple sentence changes the direction of all the energy. You no longer need to prove anything — because love is enough in itself.
Try to feel this. Close your eyes for a moment. Say to yourself inside:
“I am in the love of everything.”
Notice what happens when you really get into it. It’s as if the energy begins to flow freely, without any blockages. Nothing has to flow through you — because everything is already you. There is no lack, no competition. There is only fullness in which you are immersed.
You can breathe this feeling. You can look with eyes that love everything they see. And suddenly it turns out that what you were looking for in “showing off” was inside you all the time — in the simple “I love.”
When you truly look at the world with love, there is no need to add anything. Then every glance and every breath becomes a confirmation: “Everything in me loves.”
In Essence,
The affirmation “I am a miracle that is golden in color” reminds you that your worth does not depend on what you show the world. It is enough that you are and that you love.
By choosing joy, delight, and love as your daily energy, you stop chasing recognition and start truly living in lightness. Look with eyes that love, and you will see that the world responds to you in kind.
